Patio Pavers are available in all kinds of shapes, colors, finishes and patterns. There are 3 main paving materials to choose from when building a patio. You can pick from concrete pavers, stone pavers or brick pavers. Once you have completed the installation of the pavers it is important to maintain what you have installed.

It is very simple to maintain your pavers. Very little maintenance is needed depending on what kind of paver you have installed. Long story short, different pavers need different levels of maintenance. The reason for this is certain pavers are more likely to fade and also some pavers clean easier than others when it comes to cleaning dirt and grime.

Clay brick pavers have an irregularity in their surface that makes them prone to cracking and chipping. If damaged, replace the paver in need of repair with a new brick paver. Maintaining surface texture and color for all types of pavers can be achieved by applying a honed, polished or flamed finish. This will only be necessary every few years. The appearance of the brick is prolonged by using cleaning and sealing products.

No matter if your concrete pavers are damaged, broken or stained they can be easily replaced by merely removing the damaged paver and replace it with a new concrete paver. Concrete pavers often hide stains because of the color, however you need to apply a pesticide or herbicide to keep the weeds from growing through the joints.

Stone pavers are very durable and can last for decades of time. Furthermore, stone pavers have a rough surface that will make walking a little uncomfortable. A polish from time to time will counter this problem.

Taking simple care of your paved patio can be achieved by sweeping or hosing your patio on a regular basis. To achieve the best results possible, hire a high pressured hose system and wash of all grime and dirt. It is also recommended that you seal your pavers straight after installation and every 2-3 years following that. The reason is that the sealer will help you to maintain the color and that “new look”. Stains and spills will be so much easier to remove, ensuring that your patio will be aesthetically appealing for years to come!
