Tips to Cleaning Your Outdoor Wicker
Is your outdoor wicker garden furniture dirty and need of a good cleaning? Cleaning this furniture is easy and not complicated. In fact, it is pretty much common sense. If you keep your wicker furniture outdoors all of the time then you need to clean it regularly. The wind, rain, sun and snow can really do some harm. Here are some cleaning tips.
Wash with Detergent – Grab yourself a wet cloth and mild detergent to clean your wicker furniture regularly. Get a garden hose attachment that allows you to spray a fine mist of water over your furniture. Mist your furniture and wash it with your cloth and mild detergent. Scrub hard to get out the hardened dirt and grime. Wash off with the fine mist and let your furniture dry in the direct sunlight.
Vacuum – This is more of a preventative measure. Doing this regularly will keep you from having to do a deep cleaning. Get a brush attachment for your vacuum to brush off and suck in any debris or dirt. Penetrate the wicker fibers with the brush. Make sure your vacuum is not too powerful so it does not damage the wicker.
Mold removal – If you live in a temperate climate there is a good chance that your outdoor furniture will get mold or mildew. Use a solution of warm water and bleach. Get a soft scrub brush, dip it in your solution and remove any mold or mildew. Clean it good and then spray with a fine mist to remove any left over solution. You don’t want any bleach to stay on your furniture. Set your furniture in the direct sunlight to dry off. This will prevent future mold growth.
These simple but effective cleaning tips will help add years to the life of your wicker garden furniture. Regular vacuuming and cleaning will keep it looking great and comfortable.
